Dear St. Catherine family,

Technology is forever changing. I am sure you have discovered that when you bought your last car or kitchen appliance--even your computer, laptop, or cell phone--it seemed that a better one came out the next week. The same happens with business, industry, and church offices.

Our office computers and server are seven years old. We are experiencing more and serious problems with them. We are at a critical point regarding replacing this equipment so that the everyday functions of the office continue to run smoothly. In a computer’s lifespan, seven years is old! Many options are being considered and we will come to know them soon.

Cost estimate of seven desktop computers: $5,642.42

Cost estimate of purchasing a new server:   $2,953.09

                                                                  Total: $8,595.51

 

The second item I’d like to add to this ‘wish list’ is an LCD projector. It would be a very useful tool in the catechetical process: RCIA classes, Religious Education classes, Baptism preparation classes, etc.

Cost estimate of LCD projector: $1,299.00

 

We all realize this is a challenging economical time, and St. Catherine parish is also ‘feeling the pinch’. For this reason, I hesitate to use the money in our general operating fund; therefore, I am setting up a special fund at St. Catherine for the above projects. I trust you will help us out during this difficult time.

Perhaps you wish to make a donation toward the computers, server, and/or the projector in memory of--or in honor of--a loved one. Special envelopes can be found in a basket in the narthex for this fund. Checks may be made payable to St. Catherine Church.
